Who we are

Land Area Survey is an Android app and website made by Synvertix Technologies Private Limited, Bengaluru, India. This policy explains what information the app and this website use, and where it goes.

The short version

The app has no account and no sign-in. Your surveys, notes and photos are stored on your phone. We do not run a server that receives them, and the app contains no advertising or analytics software.

Location

The app uses your precise location to measure land. Location is read only while a measuring screen is open. During Walk & Measure it keeps reading while the screen is off, so that the walk is not interrupted; a notification is shown for as long as this is happening, and it stops when you pause, finish or leave the walk. The app does not read your location at any other time. Location readings are stored on your phone as part of the survey and are not sent to us.

Maps

The map background is downloaded from map providers as you look at it: satellite images from Esri, and the street map from OpenStreetMap. To deliver the map, those providers receive the area of the map you are viewing and your internet (IP) address, as any website would. They do not receive your surveys, your name or your saved data. Measuring works without the map when you have no internet.

Camera and photos

If you choose to add a photo to a survey, the app opens your camera or your photo picker. It can only see the photo you take or select. A copy is kept inside the app with that survey and appears in its report. The app does not read your gallery otherwise.

What is stored on your phone

Saved surveys (boundary corners, area, date, name, survey number, notes, photos), an unfinished measurement so that it can be recovered, your chosen language, and whether a tester code has been entered. This is kept in the app's private storage. If Android backup is switched on for your phone, Android may include this data in the device backup in your own Google account.

Sharing

Nothing is shared unless you press Share or Export. When you do, the report or file is handed to the app you choose, such as VAKSYN, WhatsApp or your email app, and that app's own privacy policy applies from there.

Tester codes

A tester code is checked on your phone. It is not sent to us and we do not know who has entered one.

This website

This website does not use cookies or analytics. Its fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address when a page loads. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and use it only to reply.

Deleting your data

You can delete any survey in the History screen. Clearing the app's data in Android settings, or uninstalling the app, removes everything the app has stored. Because we do not hold your data, there is nothing for us to delete on our side.

Children

The app is a measuring tool for land owners, farmers and contractors. It is not directed at children.

Paid plans and cloud backup

Paid plans and cloud backup are not available yet. When they are introduced they will need an email address and, for cloud backup, will store surveys on our servers if you turn it on. This policy will be updated before that happens.
